Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise program that combines laughter exercises with yogic breathing techniques. It originated in India by Dr Kataria (click logo to see history) and it is based on the idea that voluntary laughter can provide the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Here’s how it works:

Laughter Exercises: Participants engage in a series of playful laughter exercises that may seem silly at first, but are designed to trigger genuine laughter. These exercises can involve clapping, chanting, making eye contact, and acting out various scenarios.

  1. Yogic Breathing: Deep breathing exercises are incorporated to increase oxygen intake and enhance the overall experience.

  2. Playfulness: The atmosphere is lighthearted and playful, encouraging participants to let go of inhibitions and embrace laughter.

Benefits of Laughter Yoga:

  • Reduced Stress: Laughter releases endorphins, which are natural stress relievers.

  • Mood Enhancement: Laughter can elevate mood and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.

  • Boosted Immune System: Laughter may help strengthen the immune system.

  • Increased Energy: Laughter can improve energy levels and overall well-being.

  • Improved Social Connection: Laughter Yoga is often practiced in groups, fostering a sense of community and connection.

Who can participate?

Laughter Yoga is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It doesn't require any special skills or equipment.
